Gunnar relaxes in the living room
|
Rent for the room includes all utilities (except phone). Each room is equipped with 2 phone jacks and is wired for cable if that is desired. Some rooms have their own bathrooms but most do not.
Shared resources:
Fully equipped kitchen. Residents are free to use any of the dishes, flatware, and pans in the kitchen. There is also a "community shelf" for spices and food that people want to share. Many people leave goodies on the shelf for others to eat and some people leave food when they move out that is put on the shelf. In addition, each person gets space in one of four fridges and shelf space of their own. The freezers are shared among the people in each fridge.
Our stove and community cookwareCommon areas. Our downstairs is large and spacious and includes a dining room, living room, kitchen, and plant room.
Garden. We have a garden where we grow some vegetables and herbs and compost.
TV, VCR/DVD. There is a television and VCR/DVD player in the living room that residents are free to use.
Computer. There is a computer and printer in the living room that residents can use to check their email or print papers. To access the internet, your own account is needed (if you are a student this is provided through the University modem pool). Many people access the internet from their own rooms.
Bike and Car Parking. There are seven car parking spots on the alley side of the house. It is also wise for those with cars to purchase a resident parking permit from the city ($10) so they can park on the street if a spot is not available. We also have a covered, secured bike shed for our residents.

Watering the plants is one chore
|
Each resident is responsible for three hours of chores each month. This consists of an hour of kitchen duty and two hours of another chore. The list of chores to choose from are posted each month. Cleaning of the womens and mens bathrooms are rotated among those who use them.
There are 18 rooms in the house and they usually fill up pretty fast as the school year starts. Summers are more relaxed and there are more vacancies. Stop by and visit or contact us to schedule a full tour.
